I reported this nearly two years ago on this forum. Delete these and the characters will print correctly. Whichever program you purchase, if you don't have experience with font creation software you will have to do some studying in order to generate reliable fonts.įor all of you who are still experiencing printing problems with the double and triple tremolo slashes, if you open up the font in Fontographer or TypeTool and examine the two characters, you will discover that the problem is a duplicate slash directly on top of the middle slash for the 3 slash tremolo and the top slash of the double one.
You have to convert them to TT in Fontographer when you generate the font (a simple step). Fontographer is just as good but it doesn't work natively with TrueType fonts. If you want a simpler program to create and tweak your TrueType and Postscript fonts you will find TypeTool (by the same company that makes Fontlab and Fontographer) much easier to learn and only costs $99. You will have to buy a 3rd party book on FontLab on Amazon (can't recall the title, but it is written by Leslie Carbaga) FontLab is targeted mainly for professional font designers.

The gigantic manual that comes with the software is excellent in describing every aspect of the program, but is absolutely useless for learning it. I've had Fontographer for a number of years, but find it fairly hard to use. Anyone have an opinions on which is better for designing music fonts? I know some of the folks here uses these programs.
I'm looking to buy a font editor program, and have downloaded the demos for both Fontographer, and the newer FontLab Studio.
